The Peak to Peak Ultra race is back for 2019! This annual event is an endurance race looking to be bigger and better this year. 2019 will see a similar course to previous years accomplishing the two main peaks of Tairua and Pauanui. The long haul event will begin at the Tairua Surf Life Saving Club, where athletes will make their way up Tairua's famous Mount Paku via the Oceana coastal track to the summit reaching the trig point. Athletes will then descend to the Paku Wharf where they will enter the water and swim across to Pauanui beach. At the end of the long 3km stretch of golden white sand, athletes will then embark on the steep climb to the trig point of Mount Pauanui. As athletes reach this peak a turn around is made to head back to where they have come, along the beach to Tairua, completing the event at the Tairua Surf Life Saving Club.
Total running metres approx- 13000m.
Total elevation approx- 600m.
Total swimming metres- 400m.
Included in your entry fee athletes is a well deserved breakfast hosted by Marina Bar & Grill Tairua NZ!! Our finish line will be in the carpark followed by breakfast and prizegiving up the stairs in the restaurant. Supporters and spectators you are welcome to order breakfast for just $10!
